Nerd Fight Poll: The Most Hated/Loved CW Villain

The Most Hated/Loved CW Villain from the 2017 season

Hello all you Geek Enthusiasts and Nerd Aficionados!

We are back with another poll for this week. Last week saw the fight for the best Flash Character. Iris West ran away with it, thanks to an outpouring of support from West-Allen shippers. You can see the results of last week’s poll posted by Mest5150. On each week’s podcast the Malice Corp crew will each choose who they want to put in the ring. Winner from the previous weeks poll gets to pick first in the new weeks poll. This week we are delving for the last time in a while into the world of CW Villains.

With all the CW Finales pretty much having wrapped up this week, we choose to honor the network one more time in the nerd fight. We probably won’t see this again much until the Summer Hiatus is over. In most of the finales we watched, the bad guys seemed to have one at the end. So we are tipping our hat to some of the great villains that we either love or love to hate from the last season. And there are some amazing contenders in this race. So here are this weeks contestants:

Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) :

Killer Frost is the evil Ice Queen whose heart is frozen by her powers. We first meet her from Earth 2, where we realize Caitlin in the multi-verse has powers. She was diabolical in her service to Zolomon, screwing over Flash and his friends many times. That Frost was killed by Zolomon when she betrayed him. Caitlin as we know thanks to flashpoint had been given her frost powers. Cold and emotionless she serves Savitar as means to get what she wants, which is freedom. Though at the end we see that she can in fact control the cold emotions and be the hero she is at heart. Props to Danielle for the job she does playing her.

Arthur Ketch (David Haydn-Jones):

The merciless enforcer for the British Men of Letters. A true psychopath, Ketch wrecked havoc on the American hunters. Anyone Sam and Dean left alive Ketch eliminated regardless of whether it was morally right. Even when it comes to his comrades he shows no hesitation as he shot Mick in the head. He kidnaps Mary and sets her up to be brainwashed into being a cold killer. The finale never revealed if Mr. Ketch had also undergone the same brainwashing treatment. However in how much he reveled at turning Dean and Mary into cold killers; I think he was just a raging psycho at heart. He was brilliantly played by David, and though I am glad Ketch is dead, David will be missed in the Supernatural world.

Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) :

Well what is there to say about John and Malcolm that hasn’t already been said? Everything John does he does at a level higher than everyone else. He is smart, skilled, and ruthless when needed to achieve the goals he sets out to accomplish. And at the end, he proved what a selfless father he was, potentially sacrificing his life for Thea. RIP Dark Archer….if you are in fact truly dead.

Deathstroke (Manu Bennett) :

Good old Slade Wilson. When he is evil he is one psychotic son of a Bitch. He may have had a stroke of redemption in the Arrow finale, but he still has a long road to go. What we do know is he kills it every time he is on the screen.

Eobard Thawne (Matt Letscher)

The reverse Flash who we thought was gone at the end of Flash season 1. However, his time remnant makes his return to form the Legion of doom on Legends of Tomorrow. He was desperate to write himself back into the timeline, and for a brief moment he did. He did some truly atrocious things to the legends team during his reign of terror.

Adrian Chase AKA Prometheus (Josh Segarra):

This guy tore up the Arrow team this last season. Seeking revenge for his fathers murder, he trained under Talia Al Gul to take out the Green Arrow. He had backups for his backups and led Oliver and his team exactly where he wanted them. At the end even when he seemed defeated, he had the last laugh. He shot himself in the head which activated a series of bombs placed around Lian Yu. Leaving us on a cliffhanger on whether he had indeed Oliver and gained his son and lost literally everyone else important in his life.

Supernatural Writers:

This may seem like an odd pick. However thanks to the episode where Eileen was killed off, and Rowena was murdered off camera it left a bad taste in fans mouths. And then the ultimate betrayal came when they cheapened Crowley’s heroic sacrifice for the boys. Allowing Lucifer to do what he did after Crowley killed himself to seal the rift was so cruel to Mark and his fans. The fact that the rift only sealed after Lucifer came out and bragged then got his ass kicked by Mary and then still had enough time to yank Mary through as well for them both to be trapped on the other side? Seemed like a cheap shot for an actor, a character, and his fans who didn’t deserve that after his heroic sacrifice.

Those writers, though. *sigh* Some decent stuff but overall? I hope next season of Supernatural gets the good writers back!

There was a lot of Good in last season, But what was bad was really bad! I enjoyed a lot of Deans moments in 2017. But it seemed like they short changed a lot of characters that deserved more! Thanks for the comment! Please hang around and comment on other articles. It really motivates people to write more! Malice Corp is all about the discussion.

There were some seriously questionable story decisions and OOC scripts this past season on Supernatural, but there were excellent moments too. David Haydn Jones gave us a wonderful performance as the vile Arthur Ketch. It’s been a while since we had a villian that you could really love to hate. I’m going to keep pimping this poll on Twitter and try to get the #SPNFamily to put away the saltiness for a moment and give credit where it’s due. Let’s not reward the intermittently crap writing this season by giving them this win. Ketch deserves to be #1. <3

Thanks for the Comment Hex! I love it even more cause you are spot on! Ketch is the first Villain in a long time we can Love to Hate! He was great. He made me pine for the days for Crowley being truly evil and not an Anti-Hero! Some may disagree that Crowley became an Anti-Hero, but to me he has and well all the other villains in SPN have been soft or over done for a while. Only SPN can make Lucifer a side plot and they did for a while.

I made the joke about the SPN Writers as a Villain we just truly hate, not one we love to hate. Just hate because of all the poor and lazy writing choices they made this season. Well and because the short changed the hell out of us on some great character deaths! If Crowley has to go and you plan to send him out as an anti-hero, then don’t cheat me with the Michael Bay timer that makes his sacrifice meaningless. Then there is the who Castiel battle charge. It is out of character didn’t make sense and if it is supposed to be a doppelganger of some sort then they did a piss poor job of foreshadowing that correctly.

Thanks for the comment again! Hope to see you around and on the PodCast

The writing for SPN was horrendous this season. Except for Regarding Dean and the last 3 episodes Dean was totally nonDean. Every single iconic Dean moment thru 12 seasons was given to someone else in the cast. Deans iconic coming out of the grave from Lucifers rising was given to Crowley. The colt which iwas iconic ONLY because of Dean was given to Sam. Infact Sam turned into a killing machine this season (which Dean has always been) and Dean was left either off camera all together or on the ground. Most Dean fans are very po’d about who/what/where Dean was all season. Every one of these writers need to watch seasons 1-3 (every episode) to find out who these two characters are. Because they are clueless.
