Hello all you Geek Enthusiasts and Nerd Aficionados!
We are back with another poll for this week. Last week saw the fight for the best Supernatural character. Due to the fact that the finale was what it was, Castiel pulled out a victory. The Cas love was strong over social media, and well deserved love it was. Misha should feel proud at the staggering and overwhelming love people have for him. And the fact that he can inspire his followers to do crazy things like singing about trains to try and get votes. Mest5150 will never live down that video. It was a fun week, and thank you all who came out and participated.
This week we are gearing up for a week of finales on the CW. We decided this weeks Nerd Fight would cover one of our team’s favorite show The Flash. The Flash is rich with wonderful characters and we look forward to engaging with all the Flash fans to see who YOU think is the best Flash member. The only rule was Grant Gustin, the Flash, could not be picked because he would just “run away” with the victory. Here are this weeks contestants.
Jay Garrick/Henry Allen (John Wesley Shipp)
In this world, many of the actors play different characters. Henry Allen is of course Barry’s father, who spent much of the first season in jail for his wife’s murder. He is released in Season 2 and towards the end of the season comes and joins team Flash. While celebrating Henry’s return, Zoom crashed the party and kidnapped him. Zoom then killed him in front of Barry, phasing his hand through his chest. Jay Garrick is a veteran speedster from Earth Three and that world’s Flash. Jay was found by Hunter Zolomon, a meta-human speedster from Earth Two, and held prisoner, forced to wear an iron mask that dampened his powers. He returns to Earth 3 after being rescued, until he takes the place of a trapped Wally West in the speed force. Here is hoping Barry can right the wrong done to Jay in season 4.
Harrison Wells/Harry/HR (Tom Cavanagh)
Talk about an actor who has played multiple versions of the same character. Sometimes in the same episode. There is nothing Tom cannot do. He is flawless in every version of HR Wells. Harrison starts off the series as Barry’s mentor in helping him become the Flash. Of course as season 1 progresses we discover he is really dead and Eobard Thawne has taken over his visage. This leads to them treating the next Harrison, who they dub Harry, from Earth 2 cold in the beginning. Hard to get over the betrayal of the man who looks just like you. However they establish a good relationship with Harry, and when he returns to Earth 2, they actually go looking for a new Harry to fill the void. In comes the lovable Kook HR and he has been delightful to watch this season.
Iris West (Candice Patton)
Iris is the daughter of Joe and the late Francine West, the older sister of Wally West, the fiancée of the late Eddie Thawne and current fiancée of Barry Allen. She was Barry’s best friend growing up after the death of Barry’s mother and Joe fostering him. Charming and beautiful, Iris wants nothing more than to help and care for those around her. She’s highly intuitive and has an innate curiosity. After becoming a reporter under Mason Bridge, she becomes even more so in investigating the mysterious circumstances surrounding Harrison Wells and S.T.A.R. Labs. Iris can be quite stubborn and holds true to her morals, despite what others may want of her. Iris is also a bit of a risk taker and more often doesn’t hesitate to take action when need be. Her fate after the last episode has yet to be determined.
The Trickster (Mark Hamill)
A copycat killer who goes by the name “The Trickster” starts setting off bombs in Central City. James Jesse, a.k.a. The Trickster, once terrorized Central City twenty years ago. Now a copycat has arisen to carry on the name and resume his murderous misdeeds. It gets even worse for the Flash Team when the 2 tricksters unite to wreck Havoc on Central City. This was an epic villain and an epic actor to bring him to life. He definitely stands out amongst the villains The Flash has faced.
Captain Cold aka Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller)
Leonard started off the show as a master thief in Central City. In 2014 after the appearance of Barry Allen/The Flash, who started endangering his heists with his heroics, Leonard sought to eliminate him. Acquiring the cold gun, he had frequent encounters with the Flash, along with his partner Mick Rory/Heat Wave. In 2015 Snart and Barry reached a truce where Barry would let Snart continue his heists, so long as he didn’t kill anyone in the process, didn’t expose his identity to anyone, and became an occasional ally of his. He eventually left Central City to join with the Legends team where he was utterly fantastic. A beloved character that I miss in this universe greatly.
Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker)
Dr. Caitlin “Cait” Snow is a former scientist and a former bio-engineer at S.T.A.R. Labs. After Barry began his crusade as “The Flash” Caitlin became a member of his team with Cisco and Dr. Harrison Wells. She provides medical support for the team. She is a good friend of the Team and was the heart and conscious of the Team. This of course was pre-flashpoint. After Flashpoint sadly she has become Killer Frost, and working with Savitar to take down Team Flash. Killer Frost is the evil Ice Queen whose heart is frozen by her powers. Cold and emotionless she serves Savitar as means to get what she wants, which is freedom.
