Nerd Fight: Best Bill Murray Movie
Hello all you Geek Enthusiasts and Nerd Aficionados!
We are back with another poll for this week. Last week saw the fight for the best Game of Thrones Character. Arya just barely squeaked by Tyrion to pull off the Victory. The Faceless Assassin is a tough foe to overcome. But it was a fun debate, and really capped off a great Game of Thrones season. So thanks to everyone who came out and participated, you made the week a lot of fun. We are doing this week’s Nerd Fight to honor our September Nerd Icon, the great and Wonderful Bill Murray. If you watched our podcast last night you know that we had some wonderful discussions about the great movies Bill Murray has done over the years. So check that out, and check out this weeks contestants!
When you’re all alone, in the neighborhood…… Who you gonna call! One of the most iconic movies and movie songs ever. It had an amazing cast, great characters and great dialogue. Even watching it today is just as good as it was watching as a kid. The cast made some serious magic with this film. I could quote this movie for days! We’ve been going about this all wrong. This Mr. Stay Puft’s okay! He’s a sailor, he’s in New York; we get this guy laid, we won’t have any trouble!
Hard-luck cabbie John Winger (Bill Murray) enlists in the U.S. Army with his close pal, Russell Ziskey (Harold Ramis). However, his hijinks threaten to cause an international scandal when he inadvertently commandeers a military assault vehicle behind enemy lines. The magic of Murray and Ramis actually started before Ghostbusters. This movie is hilarious. If you haven’t seen it yet do yourself a favor watch it. You will not regret it.
Ok, so if you were like me and my man Mr. Bcon, you hated this movie the first time you saw it. We highly encourage you though to give it a second chance. Don’t worry about the plot, watch it for the characters. Once you do that this movie will shock and amaze you. Son of a bitch, I’m sick of these dolphins!
A weatherman, out to cover the annual emergence of the groundhog from its hole. He gets caught in a blizzard that he didn’t predict and finds himself trapped in a time warp. He is doomed to relive the same day over and over again until he gets it right. Whenever Ramis and Murray team up together magic happens. This movie is fun, funny, heartfelt and totally stands the test of time. What would you do if you were stuck in one place and every day was exactly the same, and nothing that you did mattered?
Lost in Translation:
Lonely, aging movie star Bob Harris and a conflicted newlywed, Charlotte, meet in Tokyo. Strangers in a foreign land, the two find escape, distraction and understanding amidst the bright Tokyo lights. They form a bond that is as unlikely as it is heartfelt and meaningful. This movie was brilliant. Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson had amazing chemistry together in it. It was sweet, and beautiful and if you haven’t seen it – you must.
