Nerd Fight: Who is the most Powerful Wizard of all time?

Hello all you Geek Enthusiasts and Nerd Aficionados!

We are back with another poll for this week. Last week saw the fight for who was the best portrayal of the Joker, The Clown Prince of Crime. See the results here. This week starts the new format for the poll. On each week’s podcast the Malice Corp crew will choose who they want to put in the ring.

Most Powerful Wizard of All Time

This week we are looking at the most powerful wizard of all time. Alas, there are many choices available in the nerdology world. These are the few we have nominated. So, without further ado, lets meet this week’s combatants.

Merlin:

The granddaddy of all wizards. Merlin has been in existence since c. 1136. Known mainly for the Arthurian legends, Merlin is one of King Author’s biggest confidants and the earliest known version of wizardry in pop culture.

Miracle Max:

Your wizard from the story filled with Sword Fights, ROUS (Rodents of Unusual Size), and Romance. Max is the wizard appearing in The Princess Bride. Miracle Max was played famously by Billy Crystal and is responsible for bringing our stories hero back from “mostly” dead.

Raistlin Majere:

Coming from the Dragonlance main series of books. He has been known as the book’s break out star. Raistlin is extremely intelligent and endowed with extreme magical power. In the process of gaining his power his body has taken the toll of the power making him weak physically. Raistlin’s quest for power eventually turns him evil but in the process results in him becoming the most powerful mortal on Krynn.

Harry Dresden:

Harry is both a wizard and a sleuth private eye. He appears in The Dresden File books. Harry is an extremely powerful magic user compared to others in the same age range as him. He starts lacking the proper fine control needed to wield his power but learns to better control it as he takes on an apprentice.

Rand al’Thor:

Rand is popularized in The Wheel of Time series of books. He is so powerful that the character foretelling his birth died from the sheer force of it. Rand is known to be an even stronger Ta’veren then the character Artur Hawkwing, who is widely regarded as the strongest of the Ta’veren in recorded history. Rand is the only known soul that is woven out by the wheel of time for rebirth that is forseen.

Elminster Aumar:

Elminster is found within the Forgotten Realms world. The great Elminster has done it all in order to achieve his status. When originally learning the magical arts, he was transformed into a woman so as to better adapt to the arts. He has traveled to hell surviving tortures due to his sheer endurance and magical ability in healing. Furthermore, even when he lost his ability to use magic, he was still cunning and powerful due to his knowledge in general.

This list blows, (mostly because the wizards on here are all male). I want to write in Hermione Granger, Newt Scamander, Tanaqui the Weaver, Michelle Oaks, and Chrestomanci. these old school wizards are fine, but there is much more in the world than just the “tried and true”.

I would pick Hermione Granger actually. She knows her stuff, loyal to a fault, and smart AF.

I still say Hermione would have wrapped up that shit by halfway through book 4. And Harry would still be scratching the trolls ass in the bathroom.

Nice GIATOMCAT! There is no Harry Potter without Hormione, and she was muggle born which makes her skill and expertise even more impressive.

Speaking as one who wore the mantle of Merlin ( Merlyn to my friends) I approve of my complete and utter dominance of the polls over my less worthy adversaries ! Never judge the bastard son of mortal woman and an incubus.

It is a terrible dishonor that Dumbledore is not on this list to vote for. Fine, fine wizard.

Thanks for your thoughts Darlene. I am not a huge Potter fan, so I can’t really comment on his power levels. I have want a couple of the movies and that is about it. Maybe one of my fellow Malice-Corp contributors can comment why none of them choose him. A stick by Raistlin as the most POWERFUL wizard of all time!
