Actor Spotlight: Daniel Newman

Daniel Newman is one of the newer members on the show The Walking Dead. So I thought it would be fun to shine a light on just who and what he brings The Walking Dead. Daniel was born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in a small rural farm town outside the city. He attended Yale and William Espers acting school to study the art. He has been a model and musician. His band, the Vanderbilts, is producing a rock album with Legendary Producer Tony Shimkin. So it appears that he is going to be a very busy guy here in the near future between this and next season TWD.

Less Than Three Campaign Reflections

I can properly give some love to the Less Than Three Campaign that started this week. This sprung up from David Haydn-Jones and all proceeds are being donated to The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. Things like this are another reason I love the Supernatural cast, and by extension their fans. They are all so invested in trying to make the world a better place, and it is really inspiring to not try and emulate that in your own life.

Doctor Who San Diego Comic Con 2017

SDCC Doctor Who Panel, Hall H, July 23, 2017

This last weekend, I had the honor of being at the San Diego Comic Con International, Hall H panel for Doctor Who.  7000 attendees, press and professionals were present to honor Peter Capaldi (12th Doctor), Steven Moffat (Executive Producer and Head Writer), and Pearl Mackie (Bill Pots, Companion).  The audience gave a standing ovation to Peter Capaldi and he was moved as it was the first time he has ever received a standing ovation.  My wife and I were very thankful to be present to honor Peter Capaldi in particular as we have missed the annual San Diego panel for the last few years.

What is grabbing a lot of headlines though? The 13th Doctor is female.  But, who cares?  What is going to happen when you finally see a female doctor controlling the TARDIS and pulling companions through adventures?  This is not a cross dresser changing their gender from a male to a female.  This is an alien with no gender preference.

By now, many of you have heard of Chester Bennington’s tragic death. I’m writing this on July 20, 2017, his death only having been reported hours before. His family, his friends, his fans are all rocked by this, and I feel like repeating anything I want to say about him and Linkin Park on July 21st’s episode of our podcast would be tacky on many levels. So I won’t get into much detail other than the two things I do want to repeat here and tomorrow: Never forget the incredible battle Chester waged, and that the band and his family helped him wage it.

Supernatural ‘Ship Wars

So I thought it would be fun to throw together some of my favorite ‘ships from the show and have them face off March Madness Style to see who the winner is. I know Supernatural is not a show built around romances. It is still fun to discuss the various relationships we have seen over the years.

This can be a polarizing topic, but I want this to be fun and fun only. I hope for no bashing of anyone or any ‘ships amongst the fans. Keep it fun and keep it friendly. Let’s meet the round 1 contestants:

Happy 20th Anniversary Harry Potter!

Papa Kent has been portrayed over the years by many wonderful actors. And Nathan Fillion has stood the test of time with his character portrayals. So thank you all who came out and participated you made it a great fathers week.

GOT: New Trailer Released and Breakdown

Let’s Talk About the Invisible Woman

In amongst all the Wonder Woman hype, I want to remind y’all of Susan Storm-Richards, A.K.A. The Invisible Woman. No, not because of Jessica Alba. Having watched Jessica in Dark Angel, I blame poorly written characterization on her foray into the Fantastic Four. My choice to vote for in this week’s Nerd Fight is the best performance of Sue because -from the beginning of the Fantastic Four in 1961 to 2017 where her book has been canceled, but she lives on in other Marvel adventures- I look at her and I see what exemplifies women: powerful patience, unyielding resolve, and ferocious defense of those they love.

Pop Culture Icon: Terry Pratchett – The man, the myth, the magic! Happy Birthday wishes to a man dearly missed

Friends, family, and other Disc World Fans. Today is the late and greatly lamented Terry Pratchett’s birthday. The world lost this amazing author on March 12, 2015. Long before his time if you ask me at the ripe young age of 66. Sir Pratchett was most famous for his Disc World series and he was a Sir having been knighted by the Queen of England. We will touch on that a little later under his Honors section. Terry brought us wonder and silliness. Terry took puns to an art form and made you giggle with the little jokes you thought were just between you and him. All his works seemed to be a personal story told to me every time I sat down to read one. I hope to bring you some of his greatness but know I will fall short in the attempt.
