Empire Strikes Back

May 21st, 1980 (Seattle Film Festival Premiere)
Dir: Irvin Kirshner

This can’t be my first post! It’s too big! There’s too much goodness! So let’s start at the beginning and just gush about it: Hoth, a frozen tundra rescue by Tauntaun, and a snow monster. A retrospectively awkward kiss between the Princess and a young Jedi followed by a not so awkward one between the Princess and a not-so-scruffy Nerf Herder. A glorious battle against AT-ATs using cables and light sabers. And who can ever forget “I Love You. I Know.”

My favorite Star wars movie!!! There are so many great moments in it. To many for me to pick my favorite but the fight scene between Luke and Vader is awesome! But if you force me to pick!

Darth Vader: Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father.
Luke Skywalker: He told me enough! He told me you killed him!
Darth Vader: No. I am your father.

That is my favorite it sent a spike right down my 7 year old spine! My little Jack Malice heart fluttered in my chest that Luke’s Daddy was the boogie man!

All of the Hoth battle scenes. Granted, desert is pretty real, but to my child-mind, seeing everyone in the snow (something I saw in PILES every childhood winter) made the two Star Wars movies feel that much more real to me. And of course, our first look at AT-AT and AT-STs kicked MUCH ass.
