Bernie was the Co-creator, with Len Wein, of the character Swamp Thing.

He also helped create Destiny with Marv Wolfman. A character used by Neil Gaiman in his Sandman stories. Helping to create two characters that are deeply entrenched in the DC comics mythos is no small feat.

Giving a face to the stories we fear

Bernie was able to really push the envelope with Warren Publishing. He tested out different perspectives of art style in his adaptions of Edgar Allan Poe and H.P. Lovecraft stories’, giving us chilling yet beautiful interpretations.

Bernie gave us a visual look into many of Stephen King’s stories as well. Bernie drew the comic book adaption of the film Creepshow. Which led to adding illustrations for ‘Cycle of the Werewolf’, the restored edition of ‘The Stand’, and fifth book in the Dark Tower Series ‘Wolves of the Calla’.
