April’s Exciting 3DS and Switch Updates

Nintendo released their latest edition of Nintendo Next crammed with lots of great updates for the 3DS and Switch. Titles include Kirby, Sonic, Arms and Splatoon.


Nintendo started with a new Pikmin game called “Hey! Pikmin” and a new Pikmin amiibo to release July 28th, 2017.

Next on the list is “Ever Oasis” on June 23rd, 2017.

We get a new Monster Hunter, “Monster Hunter Stories” releasing sometime fall of 2017.

The popular amongst kids franchise Yo-Kai Watch gets another game, “Yo-Kai Watch 2: Psychic Specters” coming in the fall of 2017.

With the 20th anniversary of Culdcept, “Culdcept Revolt” releases August 29th, 2017.

“RPG Maker Fes” launches on the eShop June 27th.

A new Mii game, “Miitopia” will come out sometime this year.

“Fire Emblem: Shadows of Valentia” releases . There will be a season pass available titled “Echoes”. New amiibo will be available.

Box Boy gets its third installment in “Bye-Bye Box Boy”. There is a demo available now through the eShop. The game allows for amiibo to be used as skins. If you’ve played the first two games, it unlocks some color game play features.

Kirby’s 25th Anniversary

The anniversary gives us two games both for 3DS. The first is “Team Kirby Clash Deluxe” and is available today through the eShop.  The second game is “Kirby Blowout” releasing on the eShop summer 2017.Kirby Nintendo


Zelda Nintendo

Super Smashbros

June 23rd, 2017 gives us 3 new Link amiibo in the Legend of Zelda series.

July 21st gives us two versions of Cloud, Bayonetta and Corrin . Some versions will be retailer exclusives.

Arms for Switch


We got introduced to Biff, Arms League Commentator. Biff gave us the rundown on some newly introduced features and to a new fighter. You can mix and match types of gloves and the fighters with their unique styles  to create some great combos. Minmin, the Ramen noodle fighter gives us a run with her dragon arm. Arms will release June 16th, 2017.Nintendo

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

April 28th gives us the newest Mario Kart installment. We finally get to make use of those friend codes with the Nintendo Network. You can race and battle online with worldwide, regional, friends and even in tournaments.

Street Fighter II Ultra: Final Challegers

The latest Streetfighter gives us a couple of new characters, sort of, and a new game play style. Evil Ryu and Violent Ken join the fight. The famous hadouken has a new way to be unleashed with using the Joy Cons in each hand to create the movement. Street Fighter releases May 26th, 2017.


Minecraft fans and parents of young Minecraft fans can rejoice. The Switch gets a Nintendo version on May 11th, 2017 in the eShop.


We get two Sonic games this year. The first is Sonic Forces coming this holiday 2017. The second is “Sonic Mania”, the classics updated with new levels and features in the Sega Genesis style. We can expect this sometime this summer. Side note, if you have pre ordered, you will have noticed the release date changed from May to September.

Splatoon 2


Splatoon 2Squid Research Lab shared with us some new fun. There are 3 new amiibo just for Splatoon 2. All other Splatoon amiibo will be compatible. There’s an exciting new gameplay called “Salmon Run”. Collect eggs, battle crazy fish creatures and get some nice payouts. Expect July 21st for inktastic fun.

More Switch Games

Tile game Project Mekuru expects a summer release.

Fate/ Extella The Umbral Star releases July 25th, 2017.

Disgaea 5 Complete releases May 23rd, 2017.

Puyo Puyo Tetris releases April 25th. There is a demo available today.

Monopoly will be available fall 2017.

Rayman Legends Definitive Edition releases sometime 2017.

Sine Mora Ex releases summer 2017.

Battle Chasers Nighwar releases summer 2017.

Payday 2 comes out sometime 2017.

Namco Museum releases summer 2017.

Switch Accessories

An extra dock will be limited release on May 19th, 2017.

Yellow Joy Cons and wrist straps release on June 16th to coincide with Arms.

New battery packs for the joy cons also release June 16th.

I know what I’m looking forward to with new games for 3DS, Switch, shiny new amiibo and accessories for the Switch.

    Got excited about “Arms” thinking that it would be the Wild Arms franchise! Then got sad when I realized it was not. Sad face.
