Good Mother’s Day to all the Geek Enthusiasts and Nerd Aficionados!!
To all the Mothers out there we would like to say Happy Mother’s Day! Our mothers are important to us. They take care of us and nurture us. Your mom may be the sweetest person but you never cross your mother for the wrath you will incur. They are important in our lives, but the great actresses that have played the role of mothers are important as well. Here’s a list of some of our favorite moms to grace the screen.
Lorelai was a good mom because she instilled the value of hard work. She could have relied on her parents wealth but instead took her own path and taught that to her daughter. Rory always came first, second to her own wants and ultimately her own pride. And even when it sucked she never pulled punches or catered to bad behavior or decisions Rory made. Tough love you know.
Pamela would do what ever it took for her son, even if that meant killing. A mother that loved her son so much that she was not worried about the recourse her actions would have upon herself. Some might call her crazy, others will just say it was a mother’s love.
If you looked up motherly love in the dictionary, a picture of Mrs. Gump would be there. She literally did whatever she had to just to make sure that her son was taken care of. Plus she had some great phrases to help us learn life lessons. After all “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.”
Starting off as a woman that is thrown into the mix of something she doesn’t understand, Sarah quickly adapted. Once again doing whatever it takes to make sure her son is safe. Sarah is the epitome of a mother you don’t F with.
The glue that holds the family together. If not for Marge the Simpsons would have been in shambles by now. Marge makes sure that a logical head is prevalent. Being there to fix the screw ups that are made by others, usually Bart and Homer.
Ok, so not all moms are good people. Some are downright rotten. Agatha is one of those, but hey, at least she makes a point to be rotten with her children – you know, cause family matters. She does care for her boys, in that tough love sort of way.
Mama had to deal with family even after family should have been out of the house. Doesn’t mean she didn’t make sure they were taken care of, it just means she wasn’t always happy about it.
Morticia Addams (The Addams Family)
Morticia was the mother that cared, but you couldn’t always tell she cared. You just knew. On top of handling the weirdness that was her family. Morticia knew how to make sure her husband was always happy, not always an easy task.
Lets ignore the fact that she completely forgot one of her children, not once but twice. Once she remembers, the first time, about Kevin she did what it took to make sure he was safe. A resourceful mother is never going to be defeated. Getting back from Paris only to be denied any flights home, she buddies up with a polka band to ride in a van with a bunch of strangers. Once again, whatever it takes to make sure your child is safe.
Not all mothers give birth to become mothers. Some adopt, some come into it through marriage, and some just become mothers to their four legged children. Daenerys is the true fur-baby mother, or in this case scale-baby. The mother of dragons has the respect and adoration of her children, because of the love she has shown them. The unfortunate thing with this is sometimes you have to make the hard decision, which Daenerys has done on many occasions.
So that’s our list. This is not a best of list as there are far too many great mothers in film and television. If your favorite was left off let us know in the comments below. I hope all the moms out there had a wonderful Mother’s Day. Thank you to everyone that is a mom for putting up with the all of the stuff you have to in order to make sure we are all taken care of.
